My Nicknames.

Why do people give others nicknames?  A nickname is a sign of intimacy, trust, and friendship.  That’s why only the people in my life that I am very close to have given me nicknames that have stayed over the years.

My friend Simonette calls me Queen B.  I am not quite sure why.  I once asked and her answer was Gossip girl. I’m still not sure.  I have always thought it’s because I like flashy shiny things and my name is Bianca.

My boss calls me B, and apparently its short for my name.

Research has shown that in nearly all successful marriages, couples have affectionate nicknames for each other. It’s like a private code between them – calling each other Sunshine, Honey,  or Sweetness.  My husband on the other hand can not decide what he wants to call me.  One day it’s Babe, the next he calls me liefie (English translation of the Afrikaans word “liefie”… my love) or feetjie. (English translation of the Afrikaans word “feetjie”… small fairy)What ever his mood will be for the day, that will be my nickname.  But they are almost always sweet.

What Dreams/Goals do I have?

Every person has dreams.  When I was 5 years old, I dreamed  about my wedding day.  I wanted an elaborate wedding, with a big princess dress.  Yet 3 years ago when I did get married.  It was small, and intimate. And Perfect.

There’s a big difference between dreams and goals. Let me begin by defining what is a dream and what is a goal.

According to an online dictionary, “A dream is a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind. A goal is a projected state of affairs that a person or a system plans or intends to achieve”.  So in short, a dream is a goal without legs and unless you turn your dreams into action, it will just stay a dream.  So with that in mind, today I am making a list of 5 dreams that I want to turn into a goal.

  1. I want to grow my hair very long.

This red is also another Goal…yeah!!
  2. I want to live healthier

  3. I want to give my Husband an incredible 50th birthday party (in 9 years time).50th-birthday-decorations_thumb.jpg

  4. I want to write a cookbook.

Swapping lives for a day.

Ever wondered what it would be like to switch lives with someone else?  According to Hollywood its as easy as magic, curses, wishes, or even experimental technology that two people can switch physical identities and then have to cope with being stuck in another persons body.

But I have honestly never asked myself this question.  If I could switch lives/bodies with one person for a day.  Who it would be?  Maybe be the president, or a supermodel.  Just to see how they live their life?  This question set me back thinking for quite a long time. Because, even when I was down or depressed, I never found myself thinking…I want to be someone else.  I am very happy with who I am currently.  My biggest worry for the day is what I am making for dinner.  I could not imagine the extreme pressure from being famous.  The constant paparazzi, or the tough decisions a president has to make daily.

So that concludes my answer.  If I could swap lives with a person for a day, I would choose not to.

Taking a look back…Halloween Edition.

Today I decided to post some of my old Halloween photos from previous years.

This may seem a bit early, but for me, this is the time when I start planning and doing my shopping for my new costume. I always try to do as much research as possible .This means I never end up having to plan last-minute.  But I noticed that somehow I always ended with up some version of a fairy.  So this year I am planning on something completely different…Watch this space!!

A Photo of My Family

Today I am posting a photo of my family.  My Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother in Law, Husband and son.  Also my Mother-in-law.  Nicky my sister-in-law.  And my Gran’s from both sides. Family is very important to me. I believe family isn’t always blood.  It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs.  The ones who accept you for who you are.  The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.

Why I started my blog on WordPress..

In my short life, I have taken up and dropped a lot hobbies. I’ve designed Jewellery . I’ve experimented with drawing and painting. And as we all know I love baking.  So why did I take up blogging?

About a month ago my friend Simonette Lubbe suggested I start blogging about my baking.  The idea didn’t really tickle my fancy at first. But I mentioned her idea to my husband.  His reaction was “Why don’t you? I love your baking!!”  We discussed my options on what platform to use and how to get this blog off the ground, and Simonette suggested WordPress.  Obviously I had to go research a bit on what other blogging sites offer you.  But soon realized that WordPress would be the easiest for me to use.

Very soon after starting I realized that I can’t just blog about my baking.  There is so many topics I can write about.  Blogging started teaching me that its okay to express my feelings.  Blogging helps me grow my thinking muscles, helps me learn to voice my opinions. And because you need to think about what you type out in your blog posts, you spend a lot of time reflecting and researching.

Blogging is a lot of work!  More than I ever thought.  Not only do you create the content, you are also taking pictures, editing pictures, socializing on social media, etc.  However, I absolutely love it!   I love the fact that I am “helping people”.  It could be with a recipe, a hairstyle, or a DO IT YOURSELF project.  And that is why I love blogging.

Songs I listen to when I am happy, bored, sad ect…

I once read that different music genres can make or break your mood, we all know this. Music is important for regulating our emotional state, can impact our focus and has an effect on the overall way we feel. Music has been used for centuries to change energy levels, improve mood and even to help people who are ill or suffering from emotional trauma to heal. With that said lets have a look at what different music I listen to for my different moods.

When I am HAPPY…

I normally listen to Meghan Trainor – Better When I’m Dancin. Her 1950s doo wop-inspired songs are very upbeat and gets me singing and dancing in no time at all.

When I am SAD…

I normally listen to every sad song I can get my hands on.  But normally I would listen to Katy Perry – The one that got away.  (The acoustic version of course)

When I am BORED…

When I am bored I normally turn to 80’s music. It gets me dancing and singing in no time. And my favorite of all is always. Cindy Lauper – Girls just want to have fun.

When I am Hyped…

I normally listen to Linken Park – Bring me to life..woohoo

When I am ANGRY…

I always listen to Alanis Mosissette -You ough to know. I also listen to all her other songs when I am angry. This woman just has a way with words
